A helmet is good or bad, to achieve what conditions is a qualified motorcycle helmet, oral, each country, and even each different organizations have their own standards, the so-called standards, is to specify the helmet shell can withstand how much impact, the lens of the field of view, the pull of the buckle belt and so on various aspects of the data test level. Currently on the market more common and authoritative standards are the following seven.
1 China GB standard
That is, everyday we say 3C certification, Chinese motorcycle helmet standards from 1989, 89 years is the first edition, 98 years of the second edition, the third edition in 2010, that is, GB811-2010 motorcycle passenger helmet standards have been used to date. The national standard reference ECE, JIS, China Taiwan CNS standard. The national standard clearly stipulates that Class A helmets (i.e., full helmets and three-quarter helmets) should be no greater than 1.6KG, and Class B helmets (i.e., half helmets) should be no greater than 1.0KG, which is a hurdle for many foreign brands of helmets. If strictly in accordance with national standards, all aspects will not be poor.
2 DOT
DOT, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the U.S. Department of Transportation Highway Traffic Safety Administration standards, DOT is generally divided into A, B, C three levels, of which the C standard is the lowest, only to reach the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) provides the minimum performance conditions.
DOT standards, the more special is its penetration test (penetration test), that is, sharp objects piercing the helmet test, proper certification DOT helmets, generally thicker, there are helmet surface protrusions can not exceed 5mm, with the ears of shaped helmets certainly can not pass.
DOT standard certificate is issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation, if the market sampling to the helmet does not pass the overall recall.
3 ECE
ECE, Economic Commission of Europe, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe automotive regulations, cars, motorcycles and other motor vehicles are in its scope, which applies to motorcycle helmets number ECE-R22/05, is a mandatory standard for the EU countries.
ECE is currently the most comprehensive of all standards, but also the most stringent control of the standard. The entire 78-page content, even the label size have detailed provisions. The standard collection of protrusions and anti-friction test; wearing device strength test; vision test; protection zone test; lens test; impact absorption test and other six major testing projects.
Quality control is divided into batch control and continuous control, batch control is the first production of 3200 helmets randomly selected full helmets 60 or half helmets 50 tops to the testing center for inspection; continuous control is the need for each production of 3200 tops on the helmet to draw 5 helmets for inspection and data recording. According to this standard test equipment there are a lot of big factories will only have.
4 SNELL
SNELL is the Snell Memorial Foundation (Snell Memorial Foundation), which is a U.S. non-profit organization dedicated to helmet safety standards research, education, testing and research and development.
In 1956, William pete Snell racing driver in a race suffered a serious head injury and died.
To honor his memory, his relatives, friends and a number of scientists and racers, among others, established a nonprofit memorial foundation in his name in 1957.
It has some influence in the industry, at least every five years according to new research results and existing technology to update the standard, this year is a big year to update the standard, domestic motorists have been looking forward to, and usually willing to spend a lot of money to buy SNELL certified models helmets.
SNELL certification is the most important feature of the helmet for different purposes, are provided with different test standards. Helmets certified by Snell can be worn on the track.
5 SG, JIS, MFJ
SG, the abbreviation of "Safety Goods", is a voluntary product safety assurance mark developed by the Consumer Product Safety Association of Japan, or CPSA.
JIS, which stands for "Japanese Industrial Standards", is the most important and authoritative national standard in Japan. It is established by the Japan Industrial Standards Survey Council (JISC).
Most people know JIS, some people know SG, and very few people know MFJ.
MFJ, or "Motorcycle Federation of Japan", was established in 1961, and is the legal entity responsible for handling motorcycle racing in Japan (similar to the motorcycle branch of the domestic automobile association). This organization not only deals with the rules and regulations of motorcycle racing, but also organizes and conducts domestic motorcycle racing events.
6 SHARP
SHARP is the Safety Helmet Assessment and Rating Program, a non-profit organization affiliated with the government in the UK.
SHARP's impact test is the most complex of all the standards, it will use seven helmets for impact testing, of which six helmets will be 6 m / s, 7 m / s, 8 m / s on the helmet before, left, right, top, after the five testing points for flat anvil and blunt cone anvil impact test, a total of 30 times; the last helmet will be left, right two points of the oblique friction impact test.
The final impact results are calculated by the formula to determine the star rating of the helmet, 5 stars is the highest level, 1 star is the lowest level.
7 FRHPhe
FRHPhe, or FIM Racing Homologation, is a set of helmet safety standards for MotoGP races introduced by the International Motorcycling Federation to ensure the safety of every competitor.
FIM's impact standard stipulates that the impact speed reaches 8.2 m/s and the HIC (Head Injury Coefficient) is less than 2880 and the Peak.Acc value is less than 275.
There is also a special place is the FIM helmet certification is through each model of each size independently tested.
We can check all the certified helmets through the official website.
The common domestic helmet certification standards are the above seven, each standard can be lengthy, the differences between the standards are described in the next article.
Wear more helmets, will have their own understanding of these standards, so as to have a ranking.
